Cart options and accessories: lids, drains and plugs

Cart accessories are selected according to your needs, the type of trolley chosen and its intended use. Whether you need to cover the contents, replace a plug or provide a drain valve on a food-grade cart, we start by confirming compatibility with the selected model.

Choose a lid that fits the cart

Cart lids are offered directly on the detailed product pages of the applicable food-grade and industrial carts. Not every cart has an optional lid available.

Before ordering, carefully check that the lid is compatible with the cart. Similar dimensions are not enough to confirm a proper fit: the lid’s shape and fit must match the container.

All food-grade box trucks in this range have an optional lid available to cover ingredients or food. However, the lid is not included in the cart’s price. Confirm the purchasing conditions, as some lids must be ordered with the cart.

For industrial plastic box trucks, we also check lid availability for the selected configuration. Keep in mind that these carts are intended for solids and are not suitable for liquids. Adding a lid does not change this limitation.

Drain accessories for food-grade carts

Provide an NPT-threaded drain connection for a valve

If you want to control drainage with a valve, a compatible threaded outlet is required. The standard drain uses a straight-threaded plug, while an NPT outlet has tapered threads designed to accept a compatible fitting or valve. These two connection types are not interchangeable.

Consider the drain adapter with a female NPT outlet, and have its compatibility with your cart confirmed. We check the existing connection before selecting the valve.

Polypropylene and PVC ball valves must be selected according to the thread type, liquid, temperature and materials of the components in contact with the contents. An NPT connection alone does not confirm that a valve is suitable for the application.

In a food processing environment, we also consider valve access and cleaning conditions. Tell us how the cart will be filled, emptied and cleaned so we can help you choose an appropriate configuration.

Replace a standard drain plug

To retain a plug closure, consider the replacement plugs for the standard drain. They are sold in packs of three.

The standard drain in question accepts a specific plug type. We also check whether you need a replacement gasket, which can be purchased separately. The plug designed for this standard drain is not compatible with an NPT outlet.

For a replacement part, provide the cart model and, if needed, a photo of the existing drain and plug.

If you use a pallet box instead, browse pallet box lids and pallet box drain options. We confirm accessories according to the container: some parts may be shared, but a part offered for a pallet box does not automatically fit a cart.

Frequently asked questions

Can a lid be ordered after purchasing the cart?

Not always. Most lids must be purchased with the cart. Plan for this option when ordering and confirm the applicable conditions.

Can a valve be attached to the standard drain?

No, not directly to the standard drain in question. The drain fitting must be replaced with an NPT-threaded adapter compatible with the valve. The standard plug does not provide a connection for a valve.

Are the lids airtight?

No. The lids in this range are dust covers. They do not have a sealing gasket, so air can pass through when the lid is placed on the cart.
