Industrial plastic box trucks for handling solids

When collecting textiles, moving parts or transporting bulk solid materials, you need to choose a cart according to the contents weight and the route it will travel. A large container does not guarantee a high load capacity, and a heavy-duty configuration is not necessarily better suited to every operation.

Light-duty, standard-duty or heavy-duty: what should you compare?

Start with the contents and load

Textiles and metal parts may occupy a similar volume while weighing very different amounts. Before choosing, confirm the maximum weight to be moved rather than relying only on the available litres.

Light-duty, standard-duty and heavy-duty versions differ in construction and allowable load. These characteristics must be compared for the selected model without assigning the same capacity to an entire series.

Corner casters, diamond configurations or wheels of different diameters

Caster selection must account for turns, distances and available space.

Some configurations have corner-mounted casters, with an optional diamond arrangement depending on the model. Others combine large fixed wheels with swivel casters. These configurations should not be compared only by diameter: we also consider how the cart will need to be steered and positioned.

In warehouses and distribution centres, check doors, aisles, thresholds and loading points. Also specify whether the cart needs to turn in a confined space or travel between several areas.

A plastic container does not mean an entirely plastic assembly

Check the base and cleaning conditions

Depending on the configuration, the container is mounted on a steel or plywood base. Smooth interior surfaces facilitate container cleaning, but the base, fasteners and casters must also be considered.

For frequent washing or a wet environment, have the suitability of the entire assembly confirmed. These carts should not be selected solely according to the plastic’s water resistance.

Distinguish industrial use from food use

Even when a resin is suitable for food contact, this does not automatically establish the suitability of the cart’s other components. At Agrico, we do not recommend the plywood or steel bases of these industrial configurations for food production operations.

For a food processing application, choose food-grade box trucks or ask us to validate an appropriate configuration. A cart can be configured for food use through a special order.

These carts are intended for solids

The TS and NG industrial configurations shown are designed for solid loads, not liquids. A container that appears closed should not be considered watertight.

If your application involves liquids, we need to guide you towards another configuration suited to the contents, temperature and weight.

Plan for accessories and storage

If you need to cover the contents, consider our cart lids. An optional lid is not available for every cart. Check compatibility and purchasing conditions before ordering. Cart options and accessories must be selected according to the chosen equipment.

Some models nest when empty. If storage matters, confirm this feature and the space needed to separate them.

Keep your pallet boxes when appropriate

If your products are already in pallet boxes, consider pallet boxes on casters and the pallet box cart before planning to transfer the contents into a box truck.

Frequently asked questions

Can these carts be used for liquids?

No. TS and NG industrial configurations are intended for solids. For liquids, choose food-grade box trucks, a pallet box on casters or a pallet box placed on a pallet box cart, and have the configuration’s suitability for the liquid and expected weight confirmed.

Does a larger volume mean a higher load capacity?

Not necessarily. Volume and allowable load are two separate characteristics. Check both before choosing.

Are diamond caster configurations available on every cart?

No. This option is available only on certain configurations. Its availability and suitability for your route must be confirmed. Contact us to discuss your project.
