Industrial hoses for potable water, liquid transfer and discharge

Industrial hoses carry liquids, supply equipment or discharge water using a pump. At Agrico Plastics, we help you select the appropriate configuration based on the liquid, its temperature, pressure or suction requirements and working conditions.

We offer potable water hoses, liquid suction and discharge hoses, discharge hoses and single- or double-jacket fire hoses. These configurations meet different needs. Choosing the right hose starts with the application, followed by the diameter, length and connections.

Which hose range should you choose?

Potable water hoses

Our potable water hoses are made of reinforced clear flexible PVC. The material is formulated with ingredients that comply with FDA requirements for the stated application. Their transparency lets you see the liquid flowing through.

Choose this range for water intended for human consumption. For other food liquids, the application needs to be assessed: a potable water hose is not automatically suitable for every ingredient or cleaning product.

Liquid suction and discharge hoses

Our liquid suction and discharge hoses are made of clear PVC with spiral reinforcement. They are designed for suction and transfer applications involving compatible liquids.

Consider this configuration when a pump needs to draw in liquid. We still check the pressure, vacuum and temperature limits of the selected hose. Resistance to certain chemicals does not mean it is suitable for every product.

Discharge hoses

Our discharge hoses are made of flexible PVC and roll up flat when not in use. Their lightweight construction and compact storage are practical for temporary water discharge operations.

We recommend them for the discharge side of a pump. For suction, choose a hose with a vacuum rating suited to that use. Ease of storage should therefore not be the only selection criterion.

Assembled discharge hoses

Our assembled discharge hoses come with male and female aluminum Camlock fittings. This configuration simplifies connection when the equipment has compatible fittings.

You retain the benefits of a layflat hose, with predefined lengths and end fittings. Connections and operating conditions still need to be confirmed before ordering.

Single- or double-jacket fire hoses

Our fire hoses are available with single or double jackets and threaded fittings for Quebec/Montreal applications.

A single jacket makes handling lighter. It is not suitable for repeated dragging or harsh environments. A double jacket provides additional resistance for more demanding applications, but it is heavier to handle. The choice depends on working pressure and actual operating conditions.

Compare configurations based on your needs

Diameter alone does not establish compatibility

Available hose diameters include 3/4", 1", 1-1/2", 2" and 3", depending on the range. Two hoses of the same diameter can still have different applications and limits.

Connections also require particular attention. Fire hydrant threads can vary from one region to another. Matching diameters therefore do not guarantee that the fittings will connect. The fire hoses we offer are equipped with Quebec/Montreal threaded fittings.

Depending on your installation, we can guide you toward Camlock fittings, hose barb adapters, hose clamps or a fire hydrant adapter for Quebec. Their selection must account for the entire installation, including tank applications.

Frequently asked questions

Which hose should I choose for a pump?

The choice depends on the application. For simple draining on the discharge side, a layflat discharge hose may be suitable. If the hose must handle both suction and discharge, we recommend a transfer hose designed for suction so it does not collapse.

For potable water or a food liquid, we start with the potable water range, then confirm compatibility with the liquid and pumping conditions. For other applications, we assess a transfer or discharge hose based on the need.

Can a hose be used for a hot liquid?

Yes, in some cases. The hose’s maximum operating temperature must be checked against your liquid’s temperature. Suitability also depends on the range and operating conditions. For some hoses, the allowable pressure decreases as temperature rises. We assess these two parameters together.

Is a transparent hose necessarily food grade?

No. Transparency lets you see the contents; it does not establish suitability for food use. We check the material and intended application.
