Reinforced PVC liquid transfer and suction hoses

Drawing liquid with a pump requires a hose designed to withstand vacuum without collapsing within its intended operating conditions. Our transfer and suction hoses are made of clear flexible PVC with green spiral reinforcement. They handle suction and discharge of compatible liquids.

This range of industrial hoses is suitable for various pumping, transfer and irrigation applications. We select the diameter and connections based on the installation while assessing the liquid, temperature, pressure and suction requirements.

Why choose a spiral-reinforced hose?

For liquid suction and discharge

When a hose must handle both suction and discharge, its construction must suit both uses. Pressure resistance alone does not establish vacuum resistance.

Hoses in this range have documented ratings for both conditions. We recommend them when an installation requires more than simple draining at the pump outlet.

To see the liquid flowing through

The clear PVC allows you to observe the contents during transfer. The inner wall is smooth, and the exterior resists abrasion and weathering.

Transparency is a practical advantage, but it does not establish chemical compatibility; this must be checked.

For agricultural and industrial uses

This type of hose can be considered for irrigation and the transfer of certain liquid fertilizers once compatibility has been confirmed. It is used in water management, construction, rental and agriculture. It must never be used for food applications or potable water.

For tank applications, we consider the complete circuit: hose, pump, tank outlet and accessories.

Transfer, discharge or potable water: which configuration should you choose?

Configurations to consider by application
ApplicationConfiguration to considerPoint to confirm
Draw in and discharge a non-food liquidSpiral-reinforced transfer hoseCompatibility, vacuum and pressure
Drain only on the discharge sideLayflat discharge hoseLiquid, temperature and pressure

Carry potable water or a food liquidPotable water rangeFood application and pumping conditions

For simple draining, discharge hoses can offer more compact storage. Our assembled discharge hoses already include their end fittings.

For water intended for human consumption or a food liquid, we start with potable water hoses, then assess the application. Choosing a transparent hose alone does not replace this assessment.

Diameter, temperature and pressure: limits to respect

Available diameters are 3/4", 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2", 2" and 3". Hoses are sold by the linear foot and are also offered in 100-foot rolls.

The operating temperature range for these hoses is −20 °C to 55 °C. However, allowable pressure varies with diameter and decreases as temperature rises.

A point to remember before replacing a hose: moving to a larger diameter does not guarantee a higher pressure rating. We check the specifications for the selected diameter instead of applying those of the previous hose.

Flexibility also has limits. The route and bends must suit the selected hose; we avoid choosing solely based on the available connections.

Chemicals: compatibility must be confirmed

These hoses may be suitable for certain mild chemicals. This does not constitute general approval for every chemical or fertilizer.

Specify the product name, concentration and temperature. Operating conditions must be assessed before ordering, even if a similar hose is already being used elsewhere.

Plan for the right connections

Depending on the installation, we can guide you toward hose barb adapters, Camlock fittings and hose clamps.

The ball valves and bulkhead fittings in the circuit must also be compatible with the liquid and working conditions. Diameter alone does not establish suitability of the complete assembly.

Frequently asked questions

Can this hose handle both suction and discharge?

Yes, for a compatible liquid and within the pressure and temperature limits of the selected diameter.

Can it be replaced with a layflat hose?

For simple discharge, a layflat hose may be suitable. For suction, we retain a configuration designed to withstand vacuum so the hose does not collapse.

Is it suitable for all liquid fertilizers?

No. The specific product, its concentration, temperature and transfer conditions must be assessed.
