An IBC tank, also called a tote or intermediate bulk container, is a plastic tank supported by a cage on a pallet. This format holds a volume of liquid in a single unit that can be handled with a forklift or pallet jack.
At Agrico, both available configurations include a new tank: one in a new cage and the other in a used, reconditioned cage. The choice therefore concerns the condition of the outer structure, rather than a tank that has previously held another product.
These totes are part of our plastic tank range. When selecting a tank, we consider the liquid, the intended use and your installation requirements.
Both configurations are sold as complete units, including the tank, cage, pallet, valve and lid.
| Configuration | Plastic tank | Cage | Selection criterion |
|---|---|---|---|
| New tank in a new cage | New | New | For purchases requiring an entirely new unit |
| New tank in a used, reconditioned cage | New | Used, reconditioned | For purchases allowing a reconditioned outer structure |
A used cage does not mean that the container in contact with the liquid is used. In both cases, the tank must be used with its cage: its walls are not designed to support the weight of the liquid on their own.
The tanks offered are made of HDPE using food-grade resin that complies with FDA requirements for contact with potable water. However, this characteristic alone does not confirm suitability for every food or chemical application.
For use in food processing, specify the liquid, its temperature and the cleaning requirements. For your agricultural needs, distinguish between drinking water, irrigation water and other liquids to be stored.
A rainwater collection project and a potable water reserve have different requirements. Similarly, a food-grade container is not automatically suitable for a chemical product. Before ordering, provide us with the product name, concentration, specific gravity and actual operating temperature.
Our section on tank applications helps you identify your needs.
The totes offered are equipped with a valved outlet with a male camlock connection. Accessories are then selected according to the hose or piping to be connected.
Browse our IBC tote parts for accessories specific to these units and our camlock fittings for transfer connections.
To convey drinking water, consider our potable water hoses. For other liquids, the choice of liquid suction and discharge hoses must be confirmed according to the product and operating conditions.
An important point when replacing a valve: a valve of the same diameter is not necessarily interchangeable. On the Mauser totes offered, the tank connection requires a compatible Mauser valve. Identifying the connection before purchasing helps avoid ordering a part that will not fit.
Before installation, check:
The totes offered are intended for above-ground use and cannot be pressurized. Their vent must also be suitable for the discharge method; an installation using a pump requires prior validation.
The cage supports the tank, but it does not provide liquid containment. If your installation requires containment, consider our secondary containment basins and have their suitability for your project confirmed.
Yes. This configuration includes a new plastic tank in a used, reconditioned cage.
No. The tank must remain in its cage to hold the liquid under the intended operating conditions.
No. The application must be validated, including the compatibility of the liquid with the tank, valve and gaskets, as well as the operating conditions.
Specify the liquid to be contained, its temperature, the intended location and the required connections. Our technical support service helps you select a suitable tank and accessories.
