STEEL BANDS (OPTIONAL):

  • Steel bands are optional – sold separately (kit of 2 steel bands #AR617442)
  • Preserve the integrity and shape of the tank, prevent it from deforming under the pressure of the liquid
  • Specifically designed to secure the tank during transport without creating pressure on it
  • To be fasten with bolts (bolts not included)
  • The body of the pipe is galvanized steel and the two feet are standard steel welded to the pipe
  • Once the steel bands are installed on the tank, it is totally normal to have an empty space between the hoop attachment bracket and the ground.
  • The gap typically varies between 1/2 to 4 inches, depending on the tank model.
  • To attach the steel bands, simply use bolts of sufficient length, or, before bolting, it is also possible to insert a spacer to fill the gap between the hoop bracket and the ground (spacer is optional).

GOOD TO KNOW...

We install additional accessories and fittings on our tanks.
For any assembly adapted to your needs such as the installation of inlets, outlets, vents, overflows, welded HDPE flanges and fittings, valves, etc., please contact one of our sales representative at 450-471-2772 Ext. 1.

Horizontal plastic tanks are used primarily for transporting and storing liquids. However, they are not DOT regulated for the transport of hazardous material. Molded legs act as baffles, reducing the movement of liquids during transport. The legs are empty inside, so they fill with liquid. Whether for stationary use or for transport, the tanks must always be supported along their entire length and must be placed on a flat surface to avoid pressure points which could pierce the wall. The resin used to make them meet FDA standards to contain potable water. The high-density polyethylene is anti-UV treated for outdoor use.

All tanks are equipped with an FNPT threaded outlet (drain), a vented screw-on lid and a molded-in indicator level graduated in US gallons. If a high-flow pump is used to empty or fill the tank, an additional vent must be installed, as the one included in the cover is designed for gravity emptying only, and will not be sufficient, which may damage the tank or the pump. Depending on the models, the tanks can contain liquids with a specific gravity up to 1.9. Models with a density of 1.9 are blue, while all others are white. Both colors are translucent and show the level of the liquid through the wall.

There are two models of horizontal tanks, the cylindrical model and the elliptical (egg-shaped) model. These two models are used with steel bands. The steel bands are primarily used to hold the tank securely in place during transport, without creating pressure points on the walls, as straps could do. The bands fit into the molded slots on the tank and hold it perfectly in place once they are bolted to the floor. The steel hoops give the advantage of positioning the tank at the place or in the desired direction, because there is no need to align with the anchor points. Also, the space around is free, since there are no tie straps that connect the tank to the anchor, which is often located further away. Steel bands are also used to maintain the shape and integrity of the tank during filling and storage. They are mandatory both for a question of safety and to obtain the manufacturer's warranty, on all elliptical tanks and on cylindrical tanks of 725 US gallons and more. The mandatory steel band kit is therefore included with the purchase of these tank models.

Horizontal tanks have many uses: recuperation or storage of drinking or waste water, maple sap water or rainwater, for the storage of chemicals, the management of liquids, agricultural irrigation or any other food, industrial or commercial applications.
